We are expecting a miracle. Janet returned to the doctor in June hoping to find out when they would do the surgery to graft tendons in her knuckles that were sheared during our accident in April. The doctor had been waiting for the skin grafts to stretch enough for her to make a fist. When he came in the room, Janet showed him she could make a fist. He then asked her to straighten her hand. He looked surprised at how straight she was able to do her hand. He said, “You should not be able to do that. Your hand is healing itself.” Janet told him that we believe in the power of prayer. He wants to wait two more months to see how much more her healing progresses, but said it looks like she will not need the tendon grafts at all. |

The new bike did well on Route 66
We left Wichita Falls on June 19 to go to Chicago to start the run riding the mother road to raise support for the mother Dream Center .. Although we did not have many ride this year it was a great recon run for the future, plus we were able to present checks for a little over $8,000 to Pastors Tommy and Matthew Barnett for the Dream Center in LA. |
LOTS OF DIVINE APPOINTMENTS ON ROUTE 66 I stopped in a small town on Route 66. I parked my bike and when I turned off the motor I could hear a gentleman who was sitting on a stool across the street playing his guitar and singing. He had his guitar case opened beside him for tips. I went across the street and struck up a conversation with him. We talked guitars, music, bull riding, motorcycles, and Texas and then we talked about the mission I was on with this Route 66 Dream Tour to raise awareness for the Dream Center in LA and the work that they do. When he discovered I was a preacher he quoted scripture and talked about the Word of God although it was fairly apparent that he was not living by it. He finally said, "Man, I have not had an opportunity to break bread with anyone in a long time." I told him that God did not allow him to have all that Word in him for no reason. Then I talked about a word for meditate in scripture which has its root in the same word for ruminate. Ruminate is what a cow does when it eats, swallows, then regurgitates it back up to chew the cud. I told him that I had never tasted it to see, but that I had heard that because of the digestive juices that had been added that the cud was actually sweeter than when it was first eaten. Then I said what I had to say. I said that if he would just take some time to meditate on the Word that is in him, he would be able to find the sweetness of that Word and what God intended for him to do with what he had. I gave him a Hope for the Highways bible and told him my address was on the back and that I would appreciate it if he would write me. A little money went in the guitar case and I went on down the street to find my friends. Later, when we came back to our bikes to leave, he put down his guitar and walked across the street just to shake my hand and say, "Thank you", and that he would get in touch with me. He is just an old biker/cowboy/ex-con that is alone and just turned 50, but he has a lot of potential. |
